Rampersad Motilal brings over forty (40) years working experience in the energy industry, in senior management and leadership positions. He served for sixteen (16) years as the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of Methanol Holdings (Trinidad) Limited (MHTL) and its predecessor companies, the Trinidad and Tobago Methanol Company Limited (TTMC), the Caribbean Methanol Company Limited (CMC) and the Methanol IV Company Limited (MIV). He was deeply involved in the establishment of the Oman Methanol Plant located in Oman. He also served on the boards of various local companies and international organizations in energy, education and business, including as President of the South Trinidad Chamber of Industry and Commerce (now the Energy Chamber of Trinidad and Tobago), and as a founding member and Director of the National Energy Skills Centre (NESC).

In 2007, Rampersad was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering and Entrepreneurship by the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT). He earned a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) at the prestigious International School of Management (ISM), Paris, France in 2018. Rampersad also holds an Executive Masters in Business Administration, with distinction, from the Institute of Business, University of the West Indies (UWI). In addition, he holds an M.Sc. in Production and Engineering Management and a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, both from UWI.

Dr. Motilal currently undertakes special assignments as an independent business and financial consultant from local and international clients.
